Squared Serving Bowl, Small

I developed this design years ago to take advantage of the colors produced by the flowing glazes that characterize much of my work. This small serving bowl is thrown on the potter’s wheel then pulled into rounded corners at the rim before I set it aside to stiffen up. The contours created by the corners help the glaze gather into thicker flows during the final firing process, which helps to bring out the depth and variety in the glaze colors.
