Berry Bowl

This piece has been in my collection for many years, which is funny since the first time someone asked if I had any berry bowls I had no idea what they were talking about. 🙂

Berry bowls are useful for rinsing and storing fresh small fruit such as blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries. Rinse under the kitchen tap, let the bulk of the water drain, then place the bowl & fruit on the included plate to catch the remaining bits of water.

The holes in the berry bowl will then allow air to circulate through the fruit, allowing it to dry and helping to dissipate the ethylene gas that is emitted from the ripe fruit. Ethylene, which is necessary for the fruit to ripen, also shortens the shelf life of fruit once it’s ripe.
