This day was mostly trimming from beginning to end, and there is plenty more to do. The flower bowls are so named due to the stylized flower design carved into the interior. They've been in my production for over a decade, and the handful of shops I still work with are always happy to get them. If I use a glaze with a bit of movement to it during the melt, the carved textured yields a lot of visual interest as the flowing glazes interacts with the texture. I spent a fair amount of time in the morning simply flipping over pots that were finally drying out after a near week of rain. And folks visiting the shop pulled me away from the work a number of times. With so much to get caught up on, I opted to remain in the studio for the evening after the gallery closed at 5pm. I haven't worked late into the night in a few months, but I enjoyed the heck out of it... listening to music and podcasts and zoning into the work. I love trimming bowls on the potter's wheel... sometimes a little too much! In evening I was trimming cereal bowls and trimmed the bottom of one so much that I punched right through the bottom when I tried to put my signature on it. That one goes in the recycle barrel.
