Who doesn't love the warm glow of candle light on a cold winter's night? For the Hand-Carved Lantern workshop, we will ask you to select your preferred vase form from several options a few days before the workshop date so that we can have a soft, carve-ready clay vase waiting for you. Then during the workshop, we'll show you have to pierce and carve the walls of your vase form to create beautiful texture and a pattern of holes for candlelight to shine through once the piece is complete. At the end of the workshop, you'll select your glaze color and leave the lantern behind for safe drying and firing. Finished pieces are usually ready in 2-3 weeks.

Enjoy creativity and comradery as our resident potter, Hamilton Williams, shows you how to create your own one-of-a-kind work. Workshops are oriented toward beginners so that in 2 hours or less participants can complete a project they can be proud of. Workshop projects are designed to teach participants essential clay techniques so that they can take on more challenging workshops in the future. All tools and materials, and some light refreshments, are provided.
Completed projects are left at the end of workshops so that they can be glazed and fired. Participants can select from one of several glaze colors.
Cost: $35 (payment required to reserve space)
*We can schedule additional workshop dates for parties of 6 or more. Deadline to sign up for a scheduled workshop is 6pm on the day prior to a workshop. Workshops with less than 5 paid sign-ups at that time will have to be rescheduled.
During workshops, Hamilton Williams Gallery often takes photographs and video of workshop participants, works-in-progress, and finished workshop pieces for the purposes of marketing future workshops and Hamilton Williams Gallery. By participating in a Hamilton Williams Gallery workshop, participants provide permission to Hamilton Williams Gallery to record and use photos and videos. Participants that wish to opt out of this provision should let us know when registering for the workshop.
