I don't know about other areas of the country, but around here in the Catawba River valley we have to deal with the Great Stink Bug Menace. It seems that stink bugs have infiltrated every nook and cranny of our fine town over the last few years. What was once an occasional nuisance has become an ongoing annoyance. As I work the gallery today, I've been picking stink bugs off the insides of our front windows and tossing them outside the door. Since the gallery opened last year, I've had to really adapt my approach to... well, almost everything. Even though I've been a full-time professional potter for many years, the additional role of "gallery owner" has thrown a big wrench in my standard way of getting things done. I've always had a tendency toward perfectionism when it comes to making pots and now that impulse has extended itself into the look and operation of the gallery. Glass Show Week

This week at the gallery, we've all been furiously getting ready for the opening receptions for the Western North Carolina Studio Glass Exhibition. The show takes place at four different venues in downtown Morganton, and this is our first year participating. Unlike some of our previous openings, we have a little more experience under our belts and have worked our way through preparations at a calmer pace.
